Obviously you don’t want to call a tow truck around every corner, and we don’t really want that for you, either. But what are some good reasons to call a tow truck? Here are 5 good reasons to call a tow truck, and we completely understand if you are in any of these situations.

  1. Engine Trouble – as a car owner you may not know why your car’s engine is giving you trouble, but we can tow your vehicle to your mechanic so they can find out why and hopefully get it fixed quickly, so you are back on the road.
  2. Ran out of gas – and nowhere near a gas station? Yes it still happens to people in this modern age of dials and gadgets that we have. No shame in calling us when this happens to you, we’ll help you fill up enough to get to the next gas station so you can be on your way. Read about our other Roadside Assistance services.
  3. Extreme Weather – puts you on some ice and skidding toward the ditch during a winter storm, make sure you are safe and uninjured and all your passengers are as well, then call us for assistance.
  4. Illegally Parked – someone you don’t know is parked in front of your driveway so you are unable to get out, or you’ve noticed a car parked on your commercial property lot for far to long and it doesn’t belong to any of your employees. Read more information about Private Property Towing.
  5. Accident – Maybe this is the most obvious one, but it’s probably our most common call in the area of I-90 in the Chicago Northwest Suburbs. If you are injured or someone traveling with you is injured call 911, your first concern should be the care of you or others, the tow truck should be secondary.

Those are all great reasons to call a tow truck, but what if you are a semi-truck driver? What are some reasons you should call a tow truck – because some of the reasons maybe the same – but they may also be very different. Afterall, bigger vehicles often come with bigger problems.

  1. Tire Failure – this was not on the first five list for passenger vehicles, but tire issues could be a problem for either semi drivers or smaller vehicles. Semi trucks can’t just change a tire on the side of the road like their counterparts can, it’s a little bit more involved with the weight of the vehicle plus the weight of the load. Tires are like gold in the semi industry, because of the amount of miles they travel and the heavy loads they regularly carry. Read more information about our Tire Change service we offer.
  2. Brakes – Semi-trucks have different types of brakes then smaller vehicles and because regular maintenance is important on all aspects of your rig. Brakes fail because of the drum brake and discs on semi-trucks face much more friction, air pressure and extreme weather conditions than most vehicles.
  3. Electricals – are complicated on a big rig, so there’s several different places they can fail – there are 3 main electricals in a semi-truck including a start motor, an alternator and battery. Many of these issues are resloved by properly maintaining your battery and making sure it’s not leaking or developing any odd smells inside the truck.
  4. Cooling Systems – is just one of the things that keeps your truck running properly, and if the connections aren’t maintained, then your truck may be more susceptible to breakdowns if the connections come apart. Also it’s a good idea to make sure there aren’t any leakages here, either as that can be a clue to the connection coming loose.
  5. Misplaced Keys – Semi-truck drivers may be embarrassed about calling us about this, because they are professionals. It happens, we understand, weather you are locked out of your big rig or left your keys in the now locked up dinner, call us and we’ll be glad to help – we should be able to get you at least in your truck so you can get a good nights rest and wait for the diner to open up the next morning, so you can get on your way. See more information about our Lock-out services.
